Passaic County Puppy Club

Welcome to the "I See For You" 4-H Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Club of Passaic County, NJ.

The main purpose of the I See For You Puppy Club is raising puppies to, one day, become guide dogs for the blind. We are known as "Puppy Raisers" for The Seeing Eye, Inc. in Morristown, NJ. The Seeing Eye is the oldest guide dog school and has been matching blind and visually impaired people with guides for over 80 years.

When Seeing Eye puppies reach about 7 weeks of age, they are delivered to the homes of volunteer "foster families" known as puppy raisers (that's us!), who nurture and care for these puppies until they are about 16 to 18 months old. These families, in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and parts of Maryland and New York, give the dogs abundant affection, teach them basic obedience, and expose them to a variety of social situations they will later encounter as working dogs. You and your family (children AND adults) can nurture a puppy to accomplish its special destiny.

Raising Seeing Eye puppies is an awesome experience for everyone; The Seeing Eye covers all veterinarian bills and, when necessary, kenneling costs. Also, The Seeing Eye reimburses puppy raisers for a majority of the puppy's food costs. There is also an opportunity for high school students to receive a scholarship through Seeing Eye puppy raising.

Of course, the most important benefit to raising a Seeing Eye puppy is being able to be involved in making a huge difference in a blind person's life.
